that there are skewed polls. paul ryan was the latest one to join on the bandwagon last night talking about wisconsin. >> i don't believe that particular poll. i won't get into the methodologies about it. >> they weren't talking about a specific poll in na statement, which sounds like it doesn't matter to him which poll it is but it's tainted. what's your take on this? we've heard it a lot over the last 48 hours. >> look at all the polls. if you go to realclearpolitics.com, for instance, in every poll in every swing state the president is a hit, it's hard to find a poll in a swing state where romney is leading. if you look at the data right now, we're looking at an election that looks more like 2008 than 2004. the president is ahead in almost every swing state, whether you look at gallup pews or pugh poll or nbc news polls, the president is far ahead right now. romney does five points nationally in some big swing state that romney does need a big move in the debates to change the game. anytime a campaign says a poll is wrong, it's a sign they're not doing well from my experience doing politics. >> su

that president obama gave david letterman than anything in paul ryan's speech which as we saw led to the this explosion of fact-checking. bill: don't all politicians kind of take the truth and bend it a little bit, stretch it out for their own advantage? >> yes. that is an understatement. they do it all the time. everybody on all sides does it. and i think, you know, to a certain extent the romney campaign has to be a little careful not caught up in just being fact checkers, but at the same time calling the president out on his excesses. when he is say things about governor romney that aren't true. bill: rove takes it a step further because he writes about serial dishonesty. that is the phrase he uses in his piece. how do you think romney has responded to date? >> i think they have done a pretty good job. i think the campaign found that delicate balance calling president on things he said that might be exaggerating or misleading governor romney's record but not obsessing about it. i think particularly in the upcoming debates, governor romney himself, it is important that he call t

. this claim by the republicans, i give it to pinocchios. obama will claim that are ryan's plan for medicare will for seniors to pay $6,400 more a year to make up for cuts in the program. this is an old democratic attack that has been around for a while. the problem is it is based on an earlier version of ryan's plan. that is another thing i have given two pinocchios. people should always be aware of dire predictions far off in the future. the $6,400 figure refers to an analysis of cbo estimates of a different, less generous ryan plan that goes to the year 2022. they make no estimates of the new version, except to say that beneficiaries might face higher costs. the plan was changed in other ways too. it changed the option of traditional medicare. it also decided to set the feature growth rate for medicare to the same matter accused by obama in his budget so there would not be a difference there. a study published recently by a journal of the american medical association suggests the average cost to additional medicare would be on the $800 more a year in the ryan plan if it had been in place
